Our Audiology Services

Hearing Tests
Our audiologists use hearing tests to determine the type of hearing loss you have and its degree (mild, moderate, or severe). Possible tests include the following:
- Pure-tone testing is done to find the quietest volume you can hear at each pitch.
- Bone conduction testing can identify issues with your cochlea.
- Speech testing involves listening to and repeating words so your provider can see how you understand speech.
- Auditory brainstem response (ABR) checks the pathways that run between your brain and inner ear.
Hearing Aids
We’re proud to feature the latest, most technologically advanced hearing aids on the market today. Depending on your needs and the degree of your hearing loss, they can be exceptionally discreet with advanced features, including noise reduction, wireless connectivity, rechargeable batteries, and more.

Selecting the Right Hearing Aid
Our audiologists will walk you through every step of selecting the right hearing aid for your needs, lifestyle, and budget.
Hearing Aid Programming and Maintenance
Hearing aids require special programming by specialists to who can finetune them to your unique needs. This programming is critical because it ensures you get the most benefit from your hearing aid. At the Barranco Clinic, we perform hearing aid programming for people who need to:
- Program their hearing aids for the first time
- Finetune their hearing aids after an initial programming
- Adjust their hearing aid settings after prolonged use
We’ll program your hearing aid during an in-office appointment with one of our audiologists. Once we’ve programmed your device, we’ll test the settings to ensure that your hearing is as improved as possible.
Surgery to Repair Hearing
We can treat some forms of hearing loss with surgery. Our audiologists work alongside our board-certified otolaryngologists and head and neck surgeons to treat patients who can benefit from surgery to treat hearing loss.
Cochlear Implants
Cochlear implants can be placed in people with profound or severe hearing loss. The implant consists of two portions: one that sits behind the ear and one surgically placed beneath the skin.
Stapedectomy
Stapedectomy is done to treat otosclerosis. With this condition, the stapes (the smallest bone in the ear) fuses to the surrounding bone, resulting in hearing loss. By replacing this bone with a prosthesis, we can improve hearing.
Tympanoplasty
Tympanoplasty can repair or replace a damaged eardrum with a tissue graft. The surgeon can access the area directly through the ear canal, resulting in minimal scarring.
